"My practice has been primarily led by intense research into collecting, and its relationship therefore to mass production and consumerism. With this supportive theoretical base, I have been able to construct a body of artwork investigating the fad known as ‘instant collectibles’. The companies commanding this market label their products as ‘collectible’. Yet they are not unique, they are not precious, and they are certainly not worth what the consumer pays for them. It is this deception that inspires my work as I create plaster versions of their products. By duplicating this imagery, I hope to toe the line between commercialisation and fine art, ultimately educating the viewer about the misleading nature of corporations in the ‘collectible’ market."
